[Belle woke up early in the morning feeling a sudden wave of home sickness she hadn't felt in months. But it wasn't Beast's castle that she longed for, but the small cottage she had lived in with her father and their small assortment of animals.

It's this feeling that brings her to the stables. She's only been here a handful of times since arriving to accustom herself with the horses and to take one out for the occasional ride. Things have been so busy she hadn't been able to come by recently.

She spends most of the morning feeding the horses treats and keeping them company. Eventually she gets one saddled and goes for a ride through the forest, though she's careful not to ride out too far from the village. People may catch her during her ride, or they may come upon her while she's at the stables before or after her ride.]

[After she finishes brushing down the horse she took out for a ride, she decides to sit down and pull out her journal. She has a question she would like to ask the village.]

Good afternoon, Luceti. I should also welcome all of the New Feathers who have arrived. My name is Belle. I have a question I would like to ask everyone, out of mere curiosity, nothing more. So no one should feel pressured to answer. But how many of you had animals you cared for back home? Or do you have any here in Luceti? And if neither of these, what kind of animals are your favorite?

As for myself, I grew up caring for my horse, Philippe. I suppose that's why I feel so comfortable around horses. I miss him every day...[She pauses for a moment before continuing, sounding more upbeat.]

Well, I'm curious to hear everyone's answers.

Dog spirits? What are they like?

[She smiles and gives the dog another look.]

Hello, Keiko.

Loyal, faithful, and as intelligent as most humans. I spent most of my early years with them as my only real companions. They're friendly, until you get on their bad side. They...like most spirits, have a long memory.

[Keiko whines at the description, knowing that she's bound to end up as an inugami one day herself. No way around that, but she doesn't mind.

And then, at being greeted? Happy bark!]

She says hello to you too. Keiko's a dear old friend. The stately matron of mine and Yuuna's home.

They sound like wonderful company.

[She giggles in response to Keiko's bark.]

Have you had her since she was very young?

They can be. They're dear to me.

[Ruffling Keiko's ears, Saori nods]

Yes, since she was a puppy. She was a gift from Yuuna's neighbor, after their dog had pups. She's...about twelve years old now, too. And she's been the best dog anyone could ask for, though...she's not much for tricks.

It's a wonderful experience watching them grow up, isn't it? She may not be one for tricks, but she seems very good natured. That's important.

[Keiko barks in agreement.]

She's very sweet. And yes, watching them grow really is a lovely thing. She's a bit of an odd dog at times, but she's gentle. If...a bit of a coward about fireworks.

[She giggles.]

Well, we shouldn't hold that against her. They can be quite frightening when you don't know what they are. Quite loud too.

No, of course not.

[Keiko preens as Saori gives her some scritches.]

What prompts you to ask about pets, though? Are you looking for one? Or just missing your horse?

Well, I decided to go out to the stables today. Just being around the horse reminded me of Philippe and I guess I was just curious to hear what sort of animals people had here or preferred.

Fair enough. Do you keep many pets at home, aside from Phillipe?

My father and I raised some chickens. I'm not sure if they would qualify as pets. They were wonderful company.

That depends. Did you name them?

Not all of them. But there were a few who warranted names because of their big personalities.

What were they like, that made them stand out above others?

Well one of them we name Clumsy because she would always bump into things when she got excited.

Oh, I bet that was very, very cute!

Were there others? [Inquiring minds who are fond of chickens want to know!]

There was the rooster that I called Titan because he would get into fights with the others. He also seemed to have a high opinion of himself.

[Sometimes, to herself, she would call him Gaston as well.]

Titan. Hah, that's cute. An overproud rooster...was he much larger than the others? And did you ever try and pop his ego?

He was the biggest, yes. And he was all but oblivious to my attempts.

Aren't they always? All puffed up like that.

Their bodies often seem bigger than their brains at times.

Now...are we talking about chickens, or men dear?
