[To say the past couple of weeks have been strange would be an understatement. Even though Belle had been forewarned about the kinds of things that happen around the time of new arrivals, nothing could quite prepare her for losing all her memories so suddenly, or getting them back just as fast. At least during that week she hadn't been aware of the mistakes she made and now that it was all over she felt too embarrassed to talk to anyone...besides Beast. But in that she really had no choice since she lived with him. But even so she's been careful to keep the subject of that strange week out of their conversations and-hopefully-out of Beast's thoughts as well.

So in the following week she takes to cleaning up there house, just as she told Beast she would. She wipes down every inch of it, clearing away the dust and the grime. And one day in the middle of the week she leaves the house to pick up some food to stock the kitchen. And she also makes a quick trip to the library to pick out a few new books to read and to return the others.

But this afternoon finds Belle once again at the library. She's standing in front of one of many bookshelves, scanning the spines of the books. There's just so many to choose from, she doesn't know where to start. She's mostly been reading stories she recognized from her own world, but she can only re-read those so many times before she's in the for something new. Finally she flips open her journal for the first time since the Shift and addresses the network.]

Good afternoon Luceti. For those who don't know, my name is Belle. And I was just wondering if any of you would be so kind as to recommend some books to me. There are so many I'm unfamiliar with in the library and it's a little bit daunting. I really would appreciate your recommendations. I enjoy reading fairy tales, if that helps. But really, I'm sure I would enjoy anything.

It might sound strange, but its called "My Lord Bag of Rice."

[She pauses]

Its a story about a hero and the Water Dragon, and a demon. Its very exciting.

Yes, it sounds like it.

[She wanders over to another shelf and starts going down the row of books. She mumbles to herself.]

Ozaki...Ozaki..oh! Here it is! [She pulls the green book off the shelf and places it near the journal so Saori can get a good look at it.]

It is this one right?

[Saori peers at the camera and nods]

Yes, thats the one. You might also like Momotaro, or The Tongue-Cut Sparrow, but there are many stories in that book. Those are some that I remember from my childhood.

[She's already happily flipping through the pages, pausing here and there until she settles on something she likes the looks of.]

Really? We should have an exchange of stories one day. I think it could be quite interesting.

Of course. I love nothing more than good stories, Belle.

[Saori beams]

Are there any books you'd recommend I read?

[She considers it for a long moment. There are just so many to choose to from. But finally a particular one comes to mind.]

I quite liked the fairy tale Belle-Belle by Marie-Catherine d'Aulnoy. It has such a wonderful story!

Oh? What is the story about, Belle?

[She giggles, intrigued]

Well, it's about man who falls on hard times and is struggling to support his family. And then a war begins and all able men are called to join the army. But because he can't, his daughters decide to disguise themselves as male soldiers and go in his stead. But not all at the same time of course.

I don't want to give anything away so I won't say any more.

Interesting. I've heard a story like that from China. Maybe you can find it. It's called the Tale of Hua Mulan, and its very, very old.

Really? That's interesting. But I guess we can't expect every story to be completely unique. It will be interesting to see how similar and different they are.

I'll grab that book next time I'm in the library, then. We'll have to compare notes.

Like...a book club.

A book club? What's that?

A group of people who read books, and then talk about the books they read.

I see. But wouldn't we need more people for that?

I'm sure we could find some, don't you think?

I suppose so. There do seem to be many people who enjoy to read here. Perhaps we can make the library our meeting place. I can't think of a better place for it.

Then we should ask around and see if people are interested. The library seems like a very fitting place.

Yes, that's a great idea. And I suppose we should ask the librarian here if it would be alright. We wouldn't want to unknowingly become a bother. [Plus it's simply good manners.]

Yes! Definitely. I think...my friend Helios works there, so I will ask.

Wonderful! And of course we'll need to find other people to join.
