[He looks slowly up at her when she speaks, but then soon lowers his gaze.] M-Mac... he... h-he's... [Swallow. She doesn't know - it seems to make it worse.]

H-he's g-gone.

[She doesn't really understand at first. This is her first experience with having a friend taken so the things she heard about when she arrived don't come to mind.]

Really? Where has he gone?

He's gone... h-home. [The answer is short, but there is a deep sound emphasis on that last word.]

[Home? Then he...

She reaches out and gently touches Beast's arm, trying to comfort him.]

I'm sure wherever he is, he's happy.

[The touch catches his attention and he raises his head just enough to look at Belle.] I know. But I'll... n-never see him again.

[She looks at him sadly.]

Well...he could always be brought back. Couldn't he?

M-maybe. [Two friends came back... but not all of them.]

I... don't know.

I'm very sorry, Beast.

If there's anything I can do...

[He gently shakes his head and slowly walks over to his chair settling himself down on his chair, running his paw over his face out of stress.]
