[Belle doesn't blame him for being confused, as she's quite confused herself. He must think she's acting awfully strange, but she's not sure how else to act. Everything seems so...wrong here. Nothing feels familiar in the least.]

I just...can't remember. When I woke up I couldn't remember anything. I still can't. [Her eyes dart around the room as even more unease settles in. Something is telling her that she needs to remain calm. Getting upset wouldn't help anything. So she takes a couple of deep breathes before looking at him again.]

What is your name? I feel so silly talking to you like this when I can't even remember that much.

[Everything in his body seems to stop. He freezes up, and is only left to stare at her in confusion, bewilderment. She can't remember... she can't remember him. It's like something out of a bad dream that he never had - something deep down that he had feared but never realised until now. Belle... not remembering him.

Finally he relaxes, sighs and looks at the floor. This was the Malnosso. They're doing this, like they always do. It shouldn't last forever... right? He... he can put up with it.]

I... I-I'm... Beast.

[The name gives her pause. It seems like a very rude thing to call someone, even it she can see why it would fit. But if it's truly his name...]

Well, Beast, it's very nice to meet you...again.

Could you perhaps...if it's not too much trouble...tell me about myself?

About... yourself? [Oh no... she meant "everything" when she said that. Now he wishes he had asked her more, actually get to know her better. There is so little he never learned from her, what her background is, anything.]

You... you l-like to read... and, uh, y-you're... s-smart?

[Belle considers this for a moment before slowly nodding. She pulls a small card from a pocket on her dress and looks at it.]

This card was on my bedside table when I woke up. It tells me a couple of things about myself and my love of books is on there. It also mentions you and that I have a brother named Silas.

...Is there anything else you can tell me?

[His eyes widen slightly and stare at the card in her hands... that at least makes it certain that the Malnosso caused it. Wait - they are not that courteous, they must say something that's going to make trouble for her... but the thing about books is definitely true... and he really doesn't know if she has a brother in their world, he just knows her father...]

What... what does it say about... me?

[She gives him a bemused look and shrugs slightly.]

Just that you live here with me, and that you're kind and I shouldn't be afraid of you.

Oh? [Really? They said that about him? But they're never that good, not to anybody. Yet... it is true... so maybe... maybe it's different this time?]

Th-that... th-that's right.

[So her love of reading is true, as is what is said about Beast. That's two out of the three things she knows. But the last one...?

Do you know anything about my brother?

Ah... [Oh no. The unknown question. The one he can't answer, because he never bothered to ask before. Oh why didn't he ask her before?]

I... I... [And he slowly lowers his head and shakes it gently.]

[She lowers her gaze back to the card, pushing back feelings of disappointment. How is she supposed to find Silas? What if he can't remember her either?]

I don't understand. Have I never mentioned him?

N-n... n-no. [He shrinks in his spot. He probably should have asked her before.]
