[Early in the morning Belle can be found going around the village and posting flyers where ever she sees an available spot. She'll post a majority of them up in heavily populated areas such as around the fountain and in the plaza area. But by the time she's done they can be seen in just about every part of the village. The flyer is white with large, black lettering advertising the first meeting of a Book Club. If you can catch up to her, Belle would be happy to answer any questions about it.]

[Later in the afternoon Belle flips open her journal in quite a rush. She's just learned some very important news.]

Good afternoon Luceti. I have some exciting news. My dear friend Beast has a birthday coming up this Thursday and I would feel awful if it went by without some kind of celebration. I would very much like to throw him a surprise party and I want to extend an invitation to everyone.

Now, I realize this is short notice, but I have only recently found out myself. And because of that I don't believe I will be able to give him a proper party on my own. If it's not too much trouble I would like to ask for some volunteers to help me decorate and prepare before the party.

Food is another concern of mine. While I can make certain dishes, I'm not quite sure what or how much to make. If anyone would like to leave some suggestions, or better yet, bring some of their own dishes, I would very much appreciate it.

And I just have one more question. Does anyone know how I should go about baking a birthday cake?

Beast is having a birthday? I didn't even know he had them!

Well of course he does!

Although...I'm not quite sure how old he'll be. I should probably ask.

Well, I can help out if you want, Belle. I can't bake but I can help set up.

That would be wonderful. I think I will send Beast out early Thursday morning with a list of chores to keep him out of the house while we prepare.

I've already started collecting some decorations so all you have to go is come over and help put them up.

Sounds like a great idea! Beast will never know what hit him after this.

I hope so. I think he was nearly going to keep it a secret until I asked him. His birthday, I mean.

Hmm...I guess so. He certainly seems to like keeping an air of mystery when he can.

I'm just glad I asked before the day came and went.

If you want fireworks, feel free to ask. I'm quite good at those.

Oh birthday cakes! I'm quite good with those. Though I've always wanted to try and make them actually singing happy birthday [ but that is a thought and crazy idea for another day. Helios smiles on his end. ]

That's nice of you to bake him one. I, ah, usually bake the layers first, then cover it with butter cream icing or-or whatever icing you prefer.

You are? Then perhaps you can help me!

You wouldn't happen to have a good recipe I could borrow do you?

Certainly. It's mostly basic chemistry.

What sort of shapes and colors do you wish?

Oh...um...I'm not sure. Can you do a mix of different ones? I don't know which shapes or colors he would prefer.

I'll play with it a bit. Too bad it's such short notice, or I could make a few for demonstration and we could sneak up to the mountains. [He laughs.] Perhaps next time.

Yes, perhaps. I'm sorry you don't have much time. But even a few fireworks would add to the festivities. I will look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Indeed. I shall deliver them on Thursday.

I suppose that I can, if it is all right to bring Gregor.

Gregor is my housemate. He's currently five years old through no fault of his own.

He's normally an adult, yes.

I'd be more then happy to, Belle. As a matter of fact I do have a few cook books lying around! I can drop them off if you'd like? [ Because it's cold out and he wouldn't really want Belle walking around in this weather. Besides...teleporting, that always helps with transportation time. ]

"A birthday party for Beast? I could scarcely miss it. If there's any way I might be of assistance, please, let me know."

Well hopefully he'll return to his usual form soon.
