Now bear in mind, this is quite different from the original, because this is based upon a true story. Once long ago, in a faraway kingdom... let's call it Spayne! There lived a swordsman named Broo- er... Broonkie! And he had an identical twin brother by the name of Yordle! Right... so where was I? A day came, when the King of this great kingdom suffered a tragic death, in the middle of the night. Many suspected foul play, but there was no evidence suggesting he died of unnatural causes. Regardless, a successor had to be chosen, and unfortunately, the King had left no heirs, and with the King and Queen having so little family of their own, the role of leadership as was custom for this kingdom would pass onto the finest swordsmen.
In truth, the true mastermind behind the death of the King, was none other than his Queen, Queen Lisa. She was secretly having an affair with the King's ace swordsman, Josh, and she was hoping to have him become the next King. However, when the time for the swordsmanship tournament occurred, both Josh and Lisa had failed to account for the skill of Josh's rivals. Broonkie who was the leader of the kindom's surprise attack squad, was proving to be a better swordsman then any had given him credit for. One after another, Josh and Broonkie went through opponent after opponent, until it was just Josh and Broonkie against each other.
Well Josh wasn't about to have all his plans ruined after all the work he and Lisa went through to depose of the king. In a blind rage, he lunged at Broonkie, while Broonkie's back was turned, and he was calmly sheathing his sword. Josh was surprised Broonkie didn't turn around, or unsheathe his sword, but he had no intention of backing down simply because his quarry was unarmed and didn't see him coming. Right as his blade was about to touch Broonkie, Josh fell to the floor, grasping his arm in his hand. Somehow he'd been cut without even realizing it, and his sword arm was made useless by the attack. Broonkie glared down at Josh as he writhed with his cut arm, and Broonkie said to him, "You fought very dishonorably Josh. I've spared your life, but you bring shame upon us all by attacking a foe whose back is turned to you in a battle of honor."
In truth, Broonkie was testing his would be king, as his surprise attack squad was effectively the secret service of his kingdom. He'd suspected that Josh was involved in the plot do depose of the King, and as such was curious to see how far he'd go. What Broonkie didn't know, was that it was Queen Lisa who had been the one to pull the strings. At the end of this decisive match, Broonkie would be crowned King, and would have to marry Queen Lisa.
Who is Yordle? What is Josh's fate? Will Queen Lisa try to assassinate Broonkie? Will Broonkie make it out of this alive? How did Broonkie injure Josh without anyone seeing it? Find out in the next episode of Bard tales with Brook! Yohohoho!
