[To say the past couple of weeks have been strange would be an understatement. Even though Belle had been forewarned about the kinds of things that happen around the time of new arrivals, nothing could quite prepare her for losing all her memories so suddenly, or getting them back just as fast. At least during that week she hadn't been aware of the mistakes she made and now that it was all over she felt too embarrassed to talk to anyone...besides Beast. But in that she really had no choice since she lived with him. But even so she's been careful to keep the subject of that strange week out of their conversations and-hopefully-out of Beast's thoughts as well.

So in the following week she takes to cleaning up there house, just as she told Beast she would. She wipes down every inch of it, clearing away the dust and the grime. And one day in the middle of the week she leaves the house to pick up some food to stock the kitchen. And she also makes a quick trip to the library to pick out a few new books to read and to return the others.

But this afternoon finds Belle once again at the library. She's standing in front of one of many bookshelves, scanning the spines of the books. There's just so many to choose from, she doesn't know where to start. She's mostly been reading stories she recognized from her own world, but she can only re-read those so many times before she's in the for something new. Finally she flips open her journal for the first time since the Shift and addresses the network.]

Good afternoon Luceti. For those who don't know, my name is Belle. And I was just wondering if any of you would be so kind as to recommend some books to me. There are so many I'm unfamiliar with in the library and it's a little bit daunting. I really would appreciate your recommendations. I enjoy reading fairy tales, if that helps. But really, I'm sure I would enjoy anything.

[Belle grins widely, liking his enthusiasm.]

That sounds quite exciting. I'm very fond of pirates, despite the fact that they are often villains. I find their lifestyle to be very...liberating.

But I would never want to be one, of course!

I...see. In what way?

A book club? What's that?

Oh! If you like pirate stories, there's also Treasure Island! That one's a classic. It's about this kid named Jim Hawkins, who gets his hands on a map that'll lead him to the treasure of the legendary pirate Captain Flint.

A group of people who read books, and then talk about the books they read.

Ah, well, it's the story of a very clever princess who outwitted a king and became his queen, but there's more to it than just that, of course.

Did you have any friends to share them with?

[It's purely inquisitive. Rapunzel only had Pascal, so the subject of having friends before her time in Luceti is still a bit foreign to her.]

Utter compliance with the wishes of her father.

...which admittedly is not terribly uncommon where I am from... but I don't find it all that charming.

Anything specific, genre wise I mean?

[ He stops what he's doing and inquires with a motioning towards the books around them. ]

[Thankfully, the support on his arm does indeed help, urging him to hoist himself up with his other arm, instinctively holding onto Belle with it to make sure the weight doesn't falter her balance... oh, he's... holding onto her. Um. He is now definitely awake.]

Ih... th-thank you. [He'll just... slowly move his arms away now.]

One is not familiar with films, maiden? Have you been living under a rock of some sort?

[Allow Loki to explain you about films and downloads, and all those wonderful things he is so very, very excited about.]

Midgard is a realm that is very fond of films. They distribute them through the torrent of bits. When downloaded you can watch them on a device of choice. Most Midgardians prefer this i pad, I prefer my phone of Stark.

They come in different shapes and forms, these films. There are ones made of drawings, but also made of pictures. Midgardians are most creative, you see? They are fond of telling stories.

It'll be a interesting experience for both of us, I haven't told a story in a very long time. [Some of the formalness starts to edge away slightly.]

Oh, I didn't really get much of a choice for reading. I read what Capitol's tutor's deemed acceptable for us.

Oh, you'er giving me so much to choose from. You must read a great deal as well, monsieur.

Well...I enjoy fairy tales and adventure stories. Oh, and romance as well. But I suppose I will read anything if it has a good story.

Well...I did have Philippe. Sometimes I would go out into the meadow to read and he would lay next to me and listen. [Or he at least always appeared to be listening.]

I guess he's the only one I would consider a friend. The people in my village thought I was odd for enjoying books.

I'm afraid I can't say it's uncommon where I am from either. Women don't have many options in society. We're to marry young and have children-preferably male of course. [There's absolutely no hint of bitterness in her tone, nope. You're hearing things.]

I see. But wouldn't we need more people for that?

That sounds rather eerily familiar.

Occasionally women run off to join the Valkyrie and escape that sad lot, though that requires they forever swear off men... which I imagine to some may seem quite appealing. I've only known one woman who escaped either of those fates. [And that might be just a little bit of wistfulness in his tone.]

No, I haven't. They simply don't exist where I'm from.

[By the times he's finished her eyes are quite wide as she tries to process all of that.]

I...see. [No she doesn't.]

And they are very enjoyable to watch?

And what is the Valkyrie? I can't say that I haven't had similar thoughts myself at times. [Gaston would put any self-respecting woman off men. Handsome or not.]

That sounds like a delightful read. Is it a fairy tale?

[And Belle seems blissfully unaware of his hold; far more concerned about making sure she's alright.]

You're not hurt anywhere are you?

Well, this shall be good practice for you then.

And what kinds of things did they deem 'acceptable'?

Female warriors. They have their own territory in which no men are allowed.

Women are allowed to be warriors where you're from? They sound like they are quite distrustful of men.
